10 super easy ways to go green and save resources!

Food for thought- What is the greatest and most magnificent gift that has ever been bestowed upon humanity?

One word answers: Nature.

As Wordsworth has rightly declared, “Nature has never betrayed the heart that loved her,” and this thought resonates with all and sundry in the sense that all of us agree that Nature is perhaps the only selfless element that satiates our thirst for absolute peace and salvation. शांति.

Having said that, it’s important to acknowledge that the best things in life ARE NOT free and hence, even the sublime comes with a price to pay and that price is not cash but kind. Just be kind. By that, what is meant is that our Environment is under serious threat. With increasing pollution, population, and exorbitance in everything, what is depleting is our future as without nature there’s no nurture.
It’s time to hear the clarion call and act judiciously to save nature and our natural resources, hence we should go green and save resources! Does anyone of us remember class VII Environmental Studies lessons? Do you remember that our resources should be used wisely and all of us should believe in Sustainable Development? If not, there’s still time to switch to green from the blackness that reflects even at the day time.

Follow these steps to go green and save resources that are already overused.
Let us all take sustainable baby steps to save what we are left with.

1. The three R’s-

All of us are familiar with the famous trio of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. It’s time to put this familiarity to some use! Reduce the amount of throw away you generate by buying minimally packaged goods, choosing reusable products over disposable ones, and recycling. For every pound of waste you eliminate or recycle, you save energy and reduce emissions of CO2 in the atmosphere.

• Reduce- Reduce the amount of water used daily in brushing, washing clothes and taking a bath. We’re not kids anymore that we’ll have to be told to turn the tap shut while brushing our teeth. Despite using the tap, take the water in a glass and then brush. Do not use the Washing Machine daily; use it only when you have a full load. This way you can save 1000 gallons/month! Always use appliances that have a minimum of 3 stars for energy conservation and try and use your air conditioner above 25 degrees, this way it will consume less electricity.
• Reuse- Reuse glass bottles for storing water, or planting saplings. You can also reuse old and tattered clothes for dusting and cleaning floors. If you come to think of it, almost everything is reusable, let your imagination fly!
• Recycle- Always buy recycled paper and never waste even a single sheet. Make it a habit to print on both sides to save paper. This way you could be saving myriad trees from being butchered. Look for the Recycle logo when buying anything from the market to make sure that the product is recyclable or not. You can start taking notes digitally in order to save paper, because why not?

2. Wave a goodbye to tubelights and bulb-

With the new lights in town, ain’t nobody got time to deal with the tubelights, literally! Upgrade yourself by starting to use CFL and LED lights for your homes. Even though they cost more initially, yet they save money in the long run by using only ¼ of the energy of an ordinary incandescent bulb and lasting 8-12 times longer. They provide an equal amount of brilliant, striking light. By replacing all the normal bulbs and lights with CFLs and LEDs, we will save an exceptional amount of energy per annum.tubelights and bulb- With the new lights in town, ain’t nobody got time to deal with the tubelights, literally! 4. Apply the rule to appliances- Conserve energy by unplugging the unused appliances and also keep in mind to turn the computer to sleep mode if it’s not being used for more than 15 minutes. While ironing your clothes, make sure you turn off the switch when your iron is hot and ready to use. By taking such small measures, you can achieve the bigger goal of saving our resources.
